L'Art de varier ou 57 Variations op.57

L'Art de varier (“The Art of Varying”), Op. 57, is a series of 57 variations for piano composed by Anton Reicha (1770–1836) . The work was written 1802-04 and published in Leipzig . The whole thing encompasses a theme in F major with 57 variations, ranging from very easy to extremely virtuoso pieces.

The work was composed and dedicated to Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia , a talented musician and composer to whom Beethoven dedicated his 3rd piano concerto .

Other well-known piano works by Reicha include the Sonata in E flat major op.43 , the Fantaisie op.61 and the 36 fugues from 1803.
