LAHAT missile that can be fired from 120 mm cannons

The Lahat ( La ser H oming At tack or La ser H oming A NTI T ank ) is a semi-active laser-guided anti-tank missile with a particularly low weight. “Lahat” is also a Hebrew word for the (white) embers.

It has been designed and manufactured by Israel Aerospace Industries since 1992 . The LAHAT was originally developed for firing from the 105 mm and 120 mm main cannons of the Israeli Merkava tanks, but can also be used in other guns of this size. It can also be used from speedboats or drones . Unlike normal ammunition for tanks, it does not have to be fired from a gun barrel, but a separate firing device can also be used.

The guided weapon has a semi-active laser control system that allows both direct and indirect firing - the target can therefore be detected by the launching device itself or by a third party ( UAV , attack helicopter , forward observer, etc.) using its target data. In the case of indirect fire, the fine index position and personal risk when firing are minimized. It has a low starting signature (muzzle flash and dust) which also serves as camouflage. For the trajectory you can choose between attack from above ( tanks , warship ) or direct attack ( helicopter ).

The range is 6-8 kilometers when fired from the ground and up to 13 km when fired from a great height. The guided weapon hits a target with an accuracy of 0.7 m- CEP and can penetrate up to 800 mm of armor steel in accordance with RHA with its tandem hollow charge warhead to combat reactive armor . The guided missile can also carry countermeasures for distance-active protective measures . In the combat vehicle, the guided weapon can be handled and stored like any other ammunition.

A comparable weapon from Soviet production is the 9K119 Refleks .
