The LAMILUX - Heinrich Strunz Group is a family-run company based in the town of Rehau in the Hofer Land and another production site in Schifferstadt . LAMILUX is the registered trademark of the company and the trade name of the products. The company employs over 1150 people in the two divisions, fiber-reinforced plastics and daylight systems.

history

The company was founded in 1909 by the carpenter Heinrich Strunz in Rehau in Upper Franconia in the Hof district . After starting a sawmill in 1918, the company developed and manufactured ready-to-assemble wooden structures and registered numerous patents for them.

In 1941 Rudolf Strunz, son of the founder Heinrich Strunz, took over the management and in 1955 expanded the company to include the production of fiber-reinforced plastics. This is how the name Lamilux came about. "Lami" for the production step of lamination , "Lux" for the transparency of the material. Rudolf Strunz made Heinrich Strunz GmbH, in addition to wood construction, a company in the plastics industry that manufactures corrugated sheets from fiber-reinforced plastics and skylights in many variations. Lamilux has become a nationwide supplier of components to the construction industry. In the 1960s / 70s, plastic products experienced ever increasing sales across Germany and in neighboring countries. Lamilux skylight domes can be found on many sports and industrial halls, the transparent Lamilux corrugated sheets cover pergolas and terraces and serve as privacy screens on balconies.

In 1985, Heinrich Strunz became the managing partner of the family company. The former production of corrugated sheets was converted to the production of the composite material LAMILUXplan . In the daylight elements business area, the security technology division was established as a separate corporate division. Lamilux Sicherheitstechnik is responsible for the planning, development and assembly of the complex control technology for smoke and heat extraction systems and their integration into building management systems. In 1990 Lamilux began developing and constructing light strips in the daylight elements business. In the area of fiber-reinforced plastics, production will be completely converted to flat webs manufactured in a continuous process.

Dorothee and Heinrich Strunz have been running the company together since 1994. The range of daylight systems has meanwhile been expanded to include glass roof constructions and control technologies for building automation . Since 2000, after adding glass roof structures to the daylight system program, Lamilux has been a partner in building projects more and more often. The fiber-reinforced plastics from Lamilux are increasingly used today in the caravan, commercial vehicle, bus, construction and sports industries and are exported worldwide. In 2006–2008, Lamilux built a third production line for fiber-reinforced plastics for 10 million euros. For the first time, the company achieved a turnover of over 100 million euros. Lamilux is investing almost eight million euros in a new production hall for the manufacture of skylight domes.

In 2009 the company celebrates its 100th anniversary. Between 2011 and 2012 Lamilux is expanding its production capacity for glass roof structures and light strips for seven million euros. In 2011 Lamilux took over the company Pecolit in Schifferstadt with 60 employees, which was merged into the Lamilux Heinrich Strunz Group in 2013. At the same time, the company's corporate structure was also changed. The company Mirotec Glas- und Metallbau GmbH from Wettringen became part of the LAMILUX Heinrich Strunz Group in 2015. Thus, LAMILUX's business fields expanded to include metal construction, glass facades, steel construction, welded constructions and glazed attachment shafts. The roda Group has also been part of LAMILUX since 2018. The company has been a well-known European manufacturer and fitter of high-quality smoke and heat exhaust ventilation systems, industrial ventilation systems, daylight systems and translucent facade technology since 1986.

In 2017, the Heinrich Strunz Group generated sales of EUR 263 million.
