The two-axle railcar LS SK2 of the Kleinbahn Lüneburg – Soltau was built in 1934 by the Wismar wagon factory in Wismar as a rail bus without pulling and pushing equipment. The railcar was used by various railway companies and is still available today (2019).

History and commitment

This two-axle railcar was built with the serial number 20235 by the Wismar wagon factory and commissioned in 1934 as the second railcar on the Lüneburg – Soltau small railway.

OHE DT 0511

The railcar was taken over by the Osthannoversche Eisenbahnen (OHE) in 1944 and used on the company's entire route network. During some modifications, the appearance of the vehicle changed several times. In 1953 it received normal pulling and bumpers, and the roof rack was removed at the same time. When the machinery was converted, the exhaust moved from the front to the center of the railcar.

Ilmebahn DT 511

In 2006 the railcar was taken over by the Ilmebahn . He was marketed as Ilmeblitz and used the company's route with special trips.

AVL DT 0511

After the reactivation of regular local rail passenger transport on the Ilmebahn route, the railcar could no longer be used there and was put out to tender in 2019. As part of a fundraising campaign, AVL succeeded in winning the bid and in doing so brought the railcar back to its old home. Since it still had valid deadlines, it could be used immediately and is now (2020) available for special trips on the network of the OHE and the club's own Bleckeder Kleinbahn.

Technical features / equipment

The vehicle, although larger and with a larger wheelbase, is similar to the Wismar rail buses . The shape of the body has a front wall that is perpendicular to the center of the car and sloping backwards above it. Only one engine was installed, which was relocated to the center of the car body with the directly connected gearbox. One axle was driven by a long cardan shaft. The car body was divided into the two entry rooms, in which the driver had his workplace on the left, and the compartment for passengers in between. This in turn was divided into two smoking / non-smoking compartments with partition walls. An entry room was made somewhat larger, it also served as a luggage room. Originally the railcar had a roof rack and no pulling and bumpers. The railcar has been adapted several times to meet modern needs. The LS SK2 is equipped with a toilet.

Only a few statements can be made about the machinery. He currently owns a Mylius gearbox . In 1965 it had a disc brake . Whether these parts were originally present - the Wismar rail buses were manufactured with drum brakes in 1932 - cannot be traced back.

Coloring

It was delivered in wine red / beige, in 1953 it was repainted in red and again in red / beige in 1976. Since 2007 it has been painted red again. All work was carried out by the main workshop of the OHE in Celle .
