history

LUK-Bank was founded by articles of association dated August 29, 1952. The entry in the commercial register took place on December 3, 1952. The institute initially operated as a commercial bank with a focus on installment loans. After a functional conversion to the energy industry bank, the VEBA group bank concentrated on the credit and exchange business with the group's energy supply , industrial and trading companies . VEBA held an indirect 25% stake in the LUK-Bank's share capital of DM 2.0 million through AG for light and power supply, Munich . In addition, Bayerische Gemeindebank, Bayerische Staatsbank AG and Bayerische Hypotheken- und Wechselbank AG were shareholders of LUK-Bank, each with 25% of the share capital. LUK-Bank had the option of using the banks involved to cover the energy industry's credit requirements that could not be refinanced from its own bank deposits .

With effect from January 1, 1969, LUK-Bank entered the Maffei & Co. bank as a limited partner with a liability contribution of DM 4.0 million. This corresponded to half of the limited partnership capital of the Maffei bank. The contribution was made by bringing in the banking business of LUK-Bank. The banking business was subsequently carried out under the name Bankhaus Maffei & Co. Bankhaus Maffei was able to strengthen its importance for the energy industry through the merger with LUK-Bank.

The managing director of LUK-Bank Ludwig Koch joined the Maffei bank as another general partner alongside Ferdinand Nemetz.

The headquarters of LUK-Bank in Munich, Hohenstaufenstrasse 1, was given up and the joint banking business continued in the office building of the Maffei bank in Munich, Promenadeplatz 9.

The LUK-Bank remained as a holding company. With a shareholder resolution of May 23, 1973, it changed its name to LUK-Vermögensanlagen GmbH and returned the banking license .
