LW6 / 8 (Paralympics)

LW6 / 8 is a starting class for athletes in Paralympic winter sports for athletes in alpine skiing . The membership of athletes in the starting class is outlined as follows:

LW6 / 8 skiers have disabilities in one upper limb. One of the following minimum criteria must be met:

  • Loss of an upper limb above or below the elbow - or
  • Loss of strength in muscle groups in the wrist and / or elbow region.

The following applies:

  • the athlete uses two skis and a stick.

The division into classes indicates the degree of functional disability of an athlete that is relevant to competition . Athletes in classes LW1-LW9 start standing.
