Lennart Hedmark

Lennart Hedmark ( Lennart Per-Olav Hedmark; born May 18, 1944 in Skellefteå ) is a former Swedish decathlete and javelin thrower .

He won bronze in the javelin throw at the Universiade in 1965. After moving to the decathlon, he finished eleventh at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City and seventh at the European Athletics Championships in Athens in 1969 .

In 1970 he won silver at the Universiade and in 1971 at the European Championships in Helsinki . At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and the 1974 European Championship in Rome, he gave up after three disciplines.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he came in eighth place.

Eight times he was Swedish champion in the decathlon (1967, 1968, 1970, 1971, 1973–1975, 1977), five times in the pentathlon (1971–1973, 1975, 1977) and three times in the javelin throw (1963–1965).

He is married to the former British high jumper Linda Knowles .
