Entrance pavilion
Distribution level

The station designed by the architects Didier, Gillon et Larouche was created using an open construction method . It is decorated along its entire length with large-scale geometric shapes in red, purple and green tones. The shapes designed by the architect Michèle Tremblay-Gillon extend to the ceiling of the platforms and from there to the distribution level and the entrance hall. As a contrast, the walls are dark gray and have diagonal furrows. There are practically no right angles or parallel lines . The design language of the entrance pavilion with its diagonal structures is reminiscent of the earlier factory buildings in the area.

The platform level with two side platforms is 9.8 meters deep . The distances to the neighboring stations, measured from the end of the station to the start of the station, are 812.30 meters to De L'Église and 707.25 meters to Charlevoix . There are connections to five bus routes and a night bus route operated by the Société de transport de Montréal . Nearby is the Maison Saint-Gabriel .

art

The various geometric shapes that run through the entire station are complemented by another work of art by Peter Gnass. On a wall in a light shaft above the distribution level hangs a large sculpture with numerous different angles, which refracts and reflects the incident sunlight in a variety of ways. The stainless steel sculpture is 10.7 meters high, 20.7 meters wide and 3.3 meters deep.

history

The station opened on September 3, 1978, together with the Atwater - Angrignon section of the green line. It is named after the nearby boulevard LaSalle, named after the French explorer Robert Cavelier de La Salle (1643–1687). There have been various attempts to change the name, as the station is in Verdun and not in the neighboring Arrondissement of LaSalle . The Montreal Region Municipal Association decided on November 21, 1984 to rename it Curé-Caisse , but for unknown reasons it was never carried out.
