The Dépêche du Midi is a regional newspaper in France that appears in the entire (former) Midi-Pyrénées region and the departments of Aude and Lot-et-Garonne . It has a circulation of around 200,000 copies and 17 local editions.
The newspaper was founded in 1870 by the printing workers at the Sirven printing works in Toulouse to inform the women who had stayed at home about the events of the Franco-Prussian War by sending dispatches . The newspaper was always close to the radical socialists. For example, Jean Jaurès began his journalistic career in 1887 with the Dépêche du Midi .
