La Jornada (German: “Der Arbeitstag”) is one of the most important newspapers in the Mexican capital, Mexico City .

The newspaper was founded in 1984 by Carlos Payán Velver ; its current editor (Directora General) is Carmen Lira Saade . La Jornada has local editorial offices in seven states of Mexico: Guerrero , Jalisco , Michoacán , Morelos , San Luis Potosí , Puebla and Veracruz ( La Jornada de Oriente ).
