La Matanie (before March 9, 2013 Matane ) is a regional county municipality ( French municipalités régionales de comté, MRC ) in the Canadian province of Québec .

It is located in the administrative region of Bas-Saint-Laurent and consists of twelve subordinate administrative units (a city, seven municipalities, three districts and a municipality-free area). The MRC was founded on January 1, 1982. The main town is Matane . The population is 21,873 and the area is 3314.4 km², which corresponds to a population density of 6.6 inhabitants per km².
