La Palma is a city in the US state of California in northern Orange County . It has a little under 16,000 inhabitants (as of 2004) on an area of 4.8 km². The settlement was originally grouped under the name Dairyland because of the numerous dairies located here . When the dairies were relocated, the name was changed to La Palma. It was named after La Palma Avenue, the main street leading through the city.
