La Pasada del Abad

The cromlech of La Pasada del Abad (also called La Parada del Abad ) is just outside Rosal de la Frontera in the province of Huelva in Andalusia in Spain and is accessible from the N-433 road in the direction of Seville .

It is a stone circle and not the remains of a Copper Age dolmen , of which six menhirs have been preserved. The megalithic complex consists of two large and one broken menhir made of black slate and three granite stones , two of which are broken off. The restoration of the monument, which had already been interpreted as a large stone grave or anta , resulted in a small stone circle, here called Cromlech , although the size of the monoliths of constructions of this type in the south of Portugal ( Cromlech by Fontainhas , Cromlech by Xerez ), where the stone circles are far more common than in Andalusia.
