La Tuque is a city ( Ville ) in the Mauricie administrative region of the Canadian province of Québec .
It is located on the Saint-Maurice River . The city was founded in 1850. It got its current size through the amalgamation of some localities in 2003. The old La Tuque was the largest with over 12,000 inhabitants. La Tuque is connected to the VIA Rail Canada rail network.
In addition to the city of La Tuque, the Agglomération de La Tuque also includes the municipalities of La Bostonnais and Lac-Édouard . It is a territorial equivalent of a county parish .
