La Vallée-de-Jacmel is a municipality and a place in the Sud-Est department on the Tiburon peninsula in southern Haiti between Jacmel (in the Arrondissement de Jacmel ) and Bainet . It is located about 11 km west of Jacmel.

The place name also appears in the spelling La Vallee de Jacmel and without the addition: La Vallée, in Creole Lavale.

Before the 2010 earthquake, La Vallée had over 36,000 inhabitants. In 2015, 36,427 people lived in the municipality, the town itself had 1,264 inhabitants.

The local Catholic parish is named after John the Baptist (Saint-Jean-Baptiste).

Personalities

La Vallée-de-Jacmel is the birthplace of the first cardinal from Haiti, Chibly Langlois , who has been Bishop of Les Cayes since 2011 and cardinal since 2014 .
