Sud-Est (German Southeast ) is a department in the south of Haiti . It covers an area of 2035 km² and has around 575,000 inhabitants (as of 2015). The capital is Jacmel .
location
The department is located on the south coast of the island and joins the Dominican Republic in the east . The Ouest department is in the north and the Nippes department in the west , which borders on a very narrow strip of land. Nippes is mainly located on the northern coast of the peninsula. There is no direct border with the southern department, the actual neighbor to the west. To the east, the department joins the province and the provincial town of Pedernales on the border river of the same name with the Dominican Republic.
