La Voisin is a German-French trio and consists of the French actress Emilie Voisin (* May 20, 1980 in Dreux ), the guitarist Armin Block (* August 24, 1962 in Rottweil ) and the Cologne jazz musician and film composer Loy Wesselburg (* 19 December 1960). Emilie Voisin and Armin Block have been living together alternately in Rottweil and Dreux since 2008, while Loy Wesselburg lives in Cologne.
Band history
La Voisin was founded in 2006 in Cologne. TV editor Armin Block met Emilie Voisin in Cologne while she was touring Germany with a children's theater. Armin Block began to set the first texts by Emilie Voisin to music in 2005, Loy Wesselburg soon joined them and the first test recordings followed in the Cologne studios of Loy Production.
In 2010 La Voisin's first album was released with the title "A part ça tout va bien" (German: Apart from that, it's going well ) with a total of 13 titles. The album was produced and arranged in Cologne by Loy Wesselburg.
In terms of style, La Voisin moves in the area of “ Nouvelle Chanson ” and represents a new generation of French music: on the one hand, connected to the tradition of expressive texts, the trio is musically broader and uses new, sometimes unfamiliar timbres and stylistic devices. La Voisin works in concerts with unusual stylistic devices and integrates guest musicians filmed in advance into the program via film projections for some of the songs. These projections are a kind of audiovisual playback and at this moment these musicians are a life-size part of the performance. For this concept, La Voisin was able to win over the Cologne star cellist Claus Kanngiesser and Stromberg actor Christoph Maria Herbst . Herbst acts unusually well as a simple choir singer.
