Labici (also: Lavici , Labicum ) was an ancient city in the Italian landscape of Lazio . It was 15 Roman miles (about 23 km) southeast of Rome at the end of via Labicana at today's Monte Compatri , on the northern slopes of the Alban Mountains .

Labici belonged to the Latin Confederation . After it had passed to the Aequers , it became 418 BC. Chr. Conquered by the Romans and Colonia made. However, it lost its importance in the course of the republic and at the time of Cicero was just a rundown municipality . The place seems to have been completely abandoned in the early imperial era. He was succeeded by the Ad Quintanas street station on via Labicana.

Labicum was an early Christian diocese and is now a titular diocese of the Roman Catholic Church .

Lugnano, 16 km away, took on the name Labico in 1888 , as it was thought to be Labici's successor at the time. This assumption has since been corrected.
