Laboratory Street (Tallinn)
The laboratory road ( Estonian Laboratooriumi tänav ) is a street in the Estonian capital Tallinn (Reval).
It is located in the north-western part of the old town of Reval and runs on the city side along the historical Reval city fortifications . It leads from Schulstrasse (Estonian: Kooli ) in the south to Breite Strasse (Estonian: Lai ) in the north.
The part of the city fortifications along which Laboratoriumstraße runs is considered to be well preserved, which gives the street a special appearance. It is shaped in a special way by the old defensive towers that are accessible from Laboratoriumstraße. From south to north there are the Reeperbahnturm , Plate Tower , Epping Tower and the tower behind Grusbeke . At the northern end of the street is the horse mill . The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church of the Three-Handed Mother of God is located on the east side of Laboratoriumstrasse in its southern section .
The name of the street goes back to a laboratory that temporarily existed here, in which black powder required for the cannons of the city fortifications was produced.
