Lacerta is an Australian progressive and technical death metal band from Hobart that was founded in 2005.

history

The band was founded in late 2005 as a nameless project, before the band name Lacerta was selected shortly afterwards. In 2010 the debut album Mind Processor was recorded with producer Joe Haley , the guitarist of Psycroptic . The album was self-published in the same year. The second, self-titled album followed in 2017 via CDN Records . In their career, the group has performed with Psycroptic, Ruins , Astriaal , Dreadnaught , Thrall and Gape , among others .

style

ZeeZee from myglobalmind.com assigned the band to Death Metal in his review of Mind Processor , with the vocals consisting of the genre- typical growling and the lyrics being about death and gore . Compared to other bands, however, the band offers more complex riffs and interesting song structures. The song Fought Possession is Death Metal in the medium speed range, while the riffs would also fit a song from Thrash Metal . Occasionally, similarities with Morbid Angel would also come to light. Christian Wögerbauer from Vampster assigned the self-titled album to Progressive and Technical Death Metal, whereby Psycroptic came to mind when listening to the album as a reference. The band manages to process a lot of ideas without the songs appearing overloaded. The playing of the bass and the electric guitar seem dexterous, but the group also build in catchy and melodic passages. Occasionally the band also reminds of Gojira . The singing consists of growls.
