Lado Awaliani

Lado Awaliani ( Georgian ლადო ავალიანი; * 1913 in Sestaponi ; † 1998 ) was a Georgian writer.

Life

He was born the son of a physicist. Until 1940 he studied graphics at the Tbilisi Art Academy . Even during his studies, however, he was also active as a writer. This was followed by a job at the Georgian film studio Kartuli Pilmi and as an artistic editor for the magazine Oktombreli . From 1977 to 1981 he was head of the prose department of the Georgian Writers' Union. He later worked as a freelancer. He was married to the Georgian painter Natela Iankoshvili and had no children.

His works have been translated into Russian and other languages ​​of the Soviet Union . Translations into German, Czech and English were also carried out.
