Lady Lockenlicht (English: Lady Lovely Locks ) is the main character in a toy series that Mattel produced from 1987 to 1989. At the same time, DiC Entertainment released a cartoon series comprising 20 episodes . The German version of the Lady-Lockenlicht cartoons was broadcast on RTL in the late 1980s , embedded in the television program Li-La-Launebär . The target audience were girls between the ages of five and ten.

Toy series

The toy series was distributed by Mattel between 1987 and 1989. The toy figures were about 22 cm tall, Barbie- like dolls with long, combable hair, equipped with clothes, shoes and a comb. Each figure was also accompanied by several strands of luck , with Countess Rabenstolz Puschelzwerge . These lucky streaks / puffy dwarves were small animals with long tails that could be attached to the dolls' hair and clothing. They were also intended as hair accessories for the buyers of Lady Lockenlicht products.

Furthermore, mermaids , elves , dragons , mounts and cats appeared in the toy series , all with noticeably long hair, as well as a hinged lock, furniture and a changing wardrobe. Books, china and a fan magazine, with stories, competitions and supplements (mostly lucky streaks), appeared in the late 1980s.

The 20 episode animated series Lady Lockenlicht (English: Lady Lovely Locks and the Pixietails ) started in 1987 parallel to the toy series. It is a Franco-Japanese co-production by the makers of Regina Regenbogen and Jem. German first broadcast was on April 30, 1988 on RTL plus .

Synopsis: Lady Lockenlicht rules a fairytale land. With the help of her magic hair , in which the lucky streaks (English: Pixietails ) live, she, together with her friends Princess Seidenwelle and Princess Goldilocks, protects her kingdom from monsters and the evil Countess Rabenstolz, who wants to own one of Lady Lockenlicht's magical streaks, in order to gain access to the magical hall of mirrors and so to usurp the power over the magic land.

VHS / radio plays / DVD

All episodes were released by DiC Entertainment on VHS (two episodes / VHS). In Germany, however, only the first three double episodes appeared on VHS. The Europa label brought out a Lady-Lockenlicht radio play series that was arranged chronologically and told a much more complex story than the US television series did. The scripts were based on the series and the given characters, but were written in Germany and the content of the scripts was essentially continued. So was z. B. thematized the childhood of the lady, Prince Herzeloh released from his evil curse, the two characters married, and they had a daughter in the course of the series.
