Lagalla is an impact crater to the southwest of the front of the moon , west of Tycho crater . The very heavily eroded crater is covered in its northeastern part by the Wilhelm crater , in the southeast the crater rim, which is barely discernible, touches the also very heavily eroded rim of Montanari .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Italian philosopher Giulio Cesare Lagalla .
