Lagg is a small settlement on the Scottish Hebridean island of Jura and administratively belongs to the Council Area Argyll and Bute , and is 14 km from Craighouse . Lagg can be reached from Leargybreck via a single-lane road ( A846 ) that leads via Tarbert to Lussagiven . The settlement is located on the east coast of the island on the banks of the Lagg Bay of the same name . Lagg had a certain importance in the 19th century as the location of the post office of Jura (the settlement developed mainly because of this) and as a ferry port for cattle from Islay and Jura, which from there 9 km across the sea to the Scottish mainland (Keills in Knapdale ) was shipped. In 1901 around 2000-3000 head of cattle were loaded there. The ferry connection is closed today. The settlement once had a pub.
