The Lago Ypacaraí is a lake in Paraguay . It is located about 50 kilometers east of Asunción , the capital of Paraguay.
location
The lake is located in the Central Department , near the border with Argentina . It is bordered by the city of Yparacai in the south, San Bernadino and Altos in the east and Aregua in the west. The largest outflow of the lake is the Rio Salado , which flows from Lago Yparacai to Rio Paraguay and flows into it.
tourism
The Lago Yparacai is also used for tourism. There are several beaches that are mostly frequented by residents of the surrounding cities. Since the Lago Yparacai is a very shallow lake, it is frequented by small ships and boats.
pollution
The lake is the most polluted lake in Paraguay. In September 2012, the responsible authorities sounded the alarm due to the high concentration of bacteria in the lake water. Since then, the concentration of bacteria has more than doubled. Now all companies involved in the pollution of the lake are to be reported to the public prosecutor . The country's environmental secretariat has already identified 124 companies that are jointly responsible for the pollution.
