The Laguna Concepción is a lake in the Santa Cruz Department in the Chiquitos Province . The lake is located in the northern part of the Llanos de Chiquitos . The lake was created tectonically .

geography

The lake is located near the Serranía Chiquitana at an altitude of 248  m above sea level. It has an extension of 27 kilometers in length and 10 kilometers in width. The total area of ​​the lake varies depending on the season between 58 and 200 km². The bottom of the lake consists of white sand and it is surrounded by wetlands , consisting of flat terrain, overgrown with forests or scrub.

Hydrology

The main tributary in the south of the lake receives its water from the distant Andes via the Río Parapetí and its continuation, the Río Quimome ; to the northeast, the water flows over the Río San Julián and the Río San Pablo , as the upper reaches of the Itonomas and Río San Miguel are called. The lake belongs to the catchment area of ​​the Amazon .
