Lahntal total
Lahntal Total was a major event that took place in the Upper Lahntal since 2006 . During the car-free Sunday , parts of the B 62 between Bad Laasphe-Feudingen near the Lahn spring and Cölbe were completely closed to motorized traffic. The closure took place between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The organizers are the tourism organizations of the districts of Siegen-Wittgenstein ( Touristikverband Siegerland-Wittgenstein eV ) and Marburg-Biedenkopf ( TOuR GmbH Marburg-Biedenkopf ) together with the towns and communities along the Lahn.
Due to various problems on the part of the organizers, the event has not taken place since 2012 and was postponed from year to year. A new edition of the major event is also planned for 2015.
According to estimates by the tourist offices of the two districts involved, over 80,000 cyclists , inline skaters and pedestrians used the total of 50 kilometers of the Lahntal Total route in 2008 . In the villages along the route, an extensive and varied supporting program is held, which includes live music, open-air church services and all kinds of food. The Kurhessenbahn operates special trains every hour between Marburg and Erndtebrück with special bicycle carts, in order to enable the participants to travel to and from the hotel without a car.
In 2010 nearly 100,000 people attended the event. In 2012 Lahntal Total did not take place due to construction sites on the route. Since the state of Hesse has not contributed to the costs of traffic safety since 2012, the event could not take place in 2012 and 2013. The event should take place regularly from 2014 onwards, thanks to a financing concept from the circles and municipalities involved.
