Lai Shin-yuan

Lai Shin-yuan ( Chinese  賴 幸 媛  /  赖 幸 媛 , Pinyin Lài Xìngyuán ; born November 9, 1956 in Taichung ) is a Taiwanese politician . She was Minister in the Council for Mainland Affairs from May 20, 2008 to September 28, 2012 .

Lai Shin-yuan attended the London School of Economics and Political Science and holds a degree in development research from the University of Sussex . She taught at Shih Hsin University from 1997 to 1998 and as an associate professor at Tamkang University from 1997 to 2008 . From 2000 to 2004 she was a member of the National Security Council and from 2005 to 2008 a member of the Legislative Yuan as a member of the Taiwan Solidarity Union (TSU).
