The city of Laizhou ( Chinese  莱州 市 , Pinyin Láizhōu Shì ) is an independent city in the east Chinese province of Shandong and belongs to the administrative area of ​​the independent city ​​of Yantai . It has an area of ​​1,878 km² and has a population of around 870,000 (2001).
