Lake Central Airlines was an American airline based in Indianapolis and based at Indianapolis International Airport .
history
Turner Airlines was founded in 1948 and was based at Indianapolis Airport. In 1950 it renamed itself Lake Central Airlines and expanded its flight network from Chicago to Pittsburgh. By August 1953, 21 airports were served; In 1968 there were 39 airports.
In February 1955, Lake Central Airlines became the first airline to be owned by its employees. Of the employees, 65 percent bought a total of 97.5% of their extraordinary inventory. Lake Central Airlines also planned to take over the Boeing 737-200 but never got around to it.
On July 1, 1968, Lake Central Airlines merged with Allegheny Airlines , which later closed the hub at Indianapolis Airport and sold the North 262A , which appeared to be unreliable .

Incidents
From 1950 to the cessation of operations in 1968 Lake Central Airlines suffered three total write-downs of aircraft. One of them killed 38 people.
