Lake Island (from English lake 'See' ) is a small island off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . In the Vestfold Mountains immediately west of the Breidnes Peninsula in Prydz Bay , it lies between Plogøy and Flutter Island .
Norwegian cartographers mapped them using aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 . Scientists from a 1957-1958 campaign as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions mapped it again and named it after the lake in the northern part of the island.
