Lala Rukh

Lala Rukh ( June 29, 1948 - July 7, 2017 ) was a prominent Pakistani women's rights activist and artist who became known as the founder of the Women's Action Forum .

Lala Rukh's artistic work includes political collages and posters , meditative, ascetic drawings. Quote Natasha Ginwala "An ink drawing with the title Hieroglyphics I: Koi ashiq kisi mehbooba se (1995) reveals the secret language of Lala Rukh as a constellation of calligraphic forms, minimalism and symbolic writing."

Her works were shown in 2017 at the exhibition for contemporary art, documenta 14 .

Rukh died on July 7, 2017 at the age of 69.
