Lalla Ward (* 28. June 1951 in London , England as Sarah Ward ) is a British actress , illustrator and author .

Life

From 1967 to 1970 Lalla Ward attended the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. She then played her first film role in the hammer film Circus of the Vampires . Several appearances on stage, in television productions and other feature films followed. Her most famous role was that of Romana in the science fiction television series Doctor Who . In 1980 she married the actor Tom Baker . The marriage lasted 16 months.

Ward wrote and illustrated several books. One of the works she has illustrated is the non-fiction book And A River in Eden by the English evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins , to whom she was married from 1992 to 2016. In 1993 she retired from the acting business to focus more on writing and her family.
