Lamarck is an impact crater on the western edge of the lunar front , south of Darwin crater and northwest of Byrgius . The irregularly shaped crater is extremely badly eroded and can hardly be seen in the uneven railing of the area.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1964 after the French biologist Jean-Baptiste de Lamarck .
