Lamasar
Lamasar ( Persian لمبسر or لمسر) was probably the most heavily fortified mountain fortress in Nizari Isma'ili state . The fortress is located in the central Elburs Mountains , south of the Caspian Sea , about 120 km from present-day Tehran , Iran . Lambsar is located northeast of the village of Razmian, the central district of Rudbar-e Shahrestan.
Lamasar is near Alamut and protected it. Lamasar was the largest of the Nizarite fortresses - its floor plan was approximately 192 × 440 meters.
history
Kiya Buzurg-Umid conquered Lamasar in 1096 (or 1102) from Rasāmūj and became its commander until he succeeded Hasan-i Sabbāhs . Buzurg-Umid expanded the fortifications. He built cisterns, buildings, and gardens.
The Seljuks besieged the fortress several times.
The rule of the assassins of Lamasar was not ended until 1257 after a cholera outbreak by the Mongolian Khan Hülegü .
