Lamb Peak is a striking bare rocky peak about 3.7 km south-southeast of Maagoe Peak . It is part of the Gifford Peaks in the Heritage Range , the southern part of the West Antarctic Ellsworth Mountains .
The mountain was mapped by the United States Geological Survey as part of the survey of the Ellsworth Mountains in the years 1961–1966 through field surveys and aerial photographs by the United States Navy . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named Lamb Peak after Lieutenant Commander Arthur D. Lamb, who worked for three summers as "Operations and Communications Officer" for the United States Navy in replenishment supplies in the Antarctic until Operation Deep Freeze in 1966.
