Lamberto Maggiorani

Lamberto Maggiorani (born August 28, 1909 in Rome , † April 22, 1983 there ) was an Italian actor.

Life

Lamberto Maggiorani was working as a mechanic in a factory when he was hired by Vittorio De Sica for the film Bicycle Thieves . Maggioroni became well known in 1948 with the leading role of Antonio Ricci in Bicycle Thieves. Prior to this film, which won an Oscar for best foreign language film, among other things , he had no acting experience. Maggiorani played in other films until 1970, alongside stars such as Jean-Paul Belmondo , Gina Lollobrigida , Terence Hill and Anouk Aimée . However, he usually only got smaller roles and could not build on the success of bicycle thieves . That is why he returned to his bourgeois craftsmanship.
