The state monument for the liberation warriors 1813–1815 is a monument on Franz-Parr-Platz in Güstrow . It was built between 1863 and 1865 according to a design by the architect and Schwerin court building officer Hermann Willebrand . Georg Wiese created the sculptural work , probably based on designs by Albert Wolff . It was financed through an initiative from Güstrow citizens and through a fundraising among participants and relatives of the wars of liberation in preparation for the 50th anniversary. The foundation stone was laid on March 27, 1863 and the monument was unveiled on July 12, 1865.

Due to the acute danger of collapse, the second largest cast iron monument in Germany at the time was extensively restored from April 1987 onwards, and the work was only completed on October 8, 1994 after more than seven years. The restoration was carried out by Wolfgang Gummelt from Berlin and Wolfgang Ziesemer from Güstrower Denkmalpflege GmbH.
