State Commissioner District

A state commissioner's district in Baden had been the administrative middle level since 1864 , which stood between ministries and district offices . The district governments were previously in their place.

From 1864 until it was abolished in 1945, there were four state commissioner districts in Baden: Constance , Freiburg , Karlsruhe and Mannheim . The state commissioners' districts were headed by state commissioners . The tasks of the state commissioners were included in the executive ordinance of the laws on the organization of internal administration; in particular the establishment and responsibility of the authorities and the procedure concerning July 12, 1864.

The law of October 5, 1863 and the ordinance of July 12, 1864 came into force on October 1, 1864. The first state commissioners were appointed by Grand Duke Friedrich I on July 11, 1864, whereby the spatial area of ​​responsibility was also determined.
