from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Norbert Möslang (born October 6, 1952 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss improvisation musician (soprano saxophone, double bass clarinet, live electronics) and violin maker .

Live and act

Möslang had piano lessons. He then self-taught soprano saxophone and double bass clarinet. From 1972 he worked as a duo with Andy Guhl for 30 years ; since 1984 the two were on the road as voice cracks . With Erik M and Günter Müller , the duo expanded into the ensemble poire_z .

Möslang increasingly used "cracked" everyday electronics in his improvisations; In doing so, he intervenes in the circuits of everyday objects, reconnects them, “cracks their code”, as he calls it, and converts them into musical instruments. He also played with Barbetomagus , Jim O'Rourke , Yoshihide Otomo , Keith Rowe , Carlos Zingaro , Irène Schweizer , Kurt Liedwart and Jason Kahn. He also writes film music . For his work on Peter Liechti's documentary The Sum of Insects , he won the 2010 Swiss Film Prize for the best film music.

Möslang also works as a photographer.
