State School Advisory Board Brandenburg

The Brandenburg State School Advisory Board is the highest body for school participation in the State of Brandenburg . It advises the ministry responsible for schools on all matters relating to schools. Its legal basis is §139 BbgSchulG.

Members

The State School Council, the State Parents Council and the State Teachers Council each send 8 representatives to the State School Council. It also includes the chairman of the education committee in the state parliament , a representative of the council for Sorbian (Wendish) affairs and representatives of various social groups, such as chambers of crafts, churches or municipal associations. Representatives of the Ministry of Education and parliamentary groups take part in the meetings, but without voting rights.

The state school council elects a chairman and three deputy chairmen, whereby it is tradition that the groups of students, parents, teachers and other members each occupy one of these four posts.

Duties and rights

The State School Advisory Board is to be heard in drafts of legal and administrative regulations that are of considerable importance for schools or which concern rights of participation, with the principles for framework curricula , teaching material approval, school development planning, school construction, school construction subsidies and for the determination of school districts as well as the approval of school experiments by of considerable importance and from special schools .

If the state school advisory board rejects a proposal from the education ministry for such a matter that needs to be heard, an agreement will be held between the education minister and the board of the state school advisory board. If this fails, the education ministry alone will decide. The Ministry of Education also has the right to act in the above-mentioned matters without a prior hearing, if there is an urgency, whereby a hearing must be made up as soon as possible and the state school advisory board must be informed.

The state school advisory board also has the right to information and make suggestions to the Ministry of Education.
