Saaleck country house

The Landhaus Saaleck is a residential building in the Bad Kösener district of Saaleck in the Burgenland district ( Saxony-Anhalt ). It was built around 1910 according to plans by the German architect Paul Schultze-Naumburg, directly on the right bank of the Saale .

history

Schultze-Naumburg came to Saaleck in 1901 after working as a freelancer in Munich and Berlin. There he founded the Saaleck workshops on his property in 1903. Around 1910 he was commissioned by Willy Müller, owner of the Leipzig timber trading company F. Moritz Müller, to build a country house as a residence in Saaleck. The house remained undamaged during World War II . In the post-war years, Müller's heirs were expropriated and it was converted into a children's home, which existed until the GDR was dissolved. After the fall of the Wall, Müller's descendants got the property back and renovated the building. Today it houses holiday apartments.

building

In the style of his later buildings, Schultze-Naumburg used traditional forms for the construction of the country house. He created a single-story, elongated two-story building with a hip roof . The eaves and the gables are broken through by dormers. Schultze-Naumburg has designed a pergola since the house was in existence .

It is also noticeable that the house is exactly aligned with the cardinal points. The gardens are separated by small paths with box hedges and are also arranged symmetrically.
