The Landisch ( Russian Ландыш = lily of the valley , in Japan called Suzuran ) is a Russian floating platform for the treatment of liquid radioactive waste , especially the slightly radioactive cooling water of nuclear-powered submarines.
After problems with untreated radioactive waste in the Japanese Sea became known several times in 1993 , the ship was laid down in 1997, completed in 1998 and put into service in 2000. In 2001, after extensive tests, the processing of radioactive waste began. The Landisch can process around 7,000 m 3 / year of liquid waste. It is based in the port of Bolshoi Kamen in the Vladivostok region .
The Japanese government inquired about the special ship in 2011 in connection with the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear accidents .
