Life

Landri comes from a noble family in the Free County of Burgundy , whose ancestral seat was in Durnes near Ornans . Ladri was first mentioned in 1145 as the dean of the canons of Saint-Jean in Besançon . His tenure as Bishop of Lausanne fell during the schismatic period . However, he managed both connections with Pope Alexander III. , as well as with the antipope Viktor IV, supported by Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa , and his successors. After the unification of Pope and Emperor, he resigned his office and ended his life as a canon in Lausanne . During his tenure, the Tower of Ouchy was erected and construction of a new cathedral began in 1173. Outwardly, he sought a balance between the Emperor, the Counts of Geneva and the Zähringers .
