The Bemberg landscape protection area with an area of ​​145.81  hectares is located in the area of ​​the independent city of Hagen , Hohenlimburg district, Elsey district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The landscape protection area (LSG) was designated in 1994 with the landscape plan of the city of Hagen by the city council of Hagen. The LSG consists of five sub-areas.

In the north, the LSG borders directly on the landscape protection area Berchumer Heide, Reher Heide . In the southwest and south there are built-up areas adjacent to Henkhausen. It goes in the east to the city limits to Iserlohn in the Märkisches Kreis (MK). The areas in the MK belong to the Iserlohn Type A landscape protection area . The Henkhauser- and Hasselbachtal nature reserve is located in the middle of the LSG. Two parts of the LSG are enclosed by the nature reserve. In the LSG there are predominantly forest areas, but also agriculturally used areas with fields and grassland.

Protection purpose

According to the landscape plan, the designation was made “to maintain and restore the efficiency of the natural balance, in particular by securing and developing near-natural habitats through ecological silviculture; Because of the diversity, uniqueness and beauty of the forest area around the nature reserve 'Henkhauser- / Hasselbachtal', in particular the Bembergs that characterize the landscape and because of the special importance of the area as a recreation area, especially for quiet relaxation through the experience of natural habitats ".
