Biberbachtal protected landscape area

The landscape protection area Biberbachtal with 56.5  hectares is located in the urban area of Arnsberg . It was designated in 1998 with the Arnsberg landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerland district as a landscape protection area (LSG) type C (meadow valleys) . The LSG consists of nine sub-areas and partly borders directly on the settlement area.

The LSG includes grassland in the Biberbachtal . Sometimes the Luerwald and Bieberbach nature reserves are directly adjacent . Parts of the LSG are also part of the 2633 hectare FFH area and the 2637 hectare bird sanctuary in Luerwald and Bieberbach .

Protection purpose

The designation was made to secure and maintain the efficiency of the natural balance or the usability of the natural assets; because of the variety, character or beauty of the landscape and its particular importance for recreation. The designation is intended to secure open spaces in the outskirts.

Legal regulations

In the landscape protection area, among other things, the erection of structures is prohibited. Construction projects for horticulture, agriculture and forestry, the public supply of electricity, gas, telecommunications services, heat and water, wastewater management or an existing commercial operation are exempt from the construction ban, provided that a permit is available. The construction of wind turbines and hydropower plants is also permitted with a building permit.
