The landscape protection area Diemeltalflanken around Niedermarsberg with a size of 100.18  ha is located in the urban area of Marsberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The landscape protection area (LSG) was designated as LSG in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan. The LSG consists of five sub-areas which are southwest and east of Niedermarsberg .

Adjacent areas

The westernmost large part of the area borders directly on the development of Niedermarsberg in the north. In the south this area borders on the nature reserve Unteres Diemeltal . The three smaller sub-areas of the LSG east of Niedermarsberg are for the most part directly adjacent to built-up areas and are strongly isolated from other open areas due to buildings and traffic routes. The large eastern sub-area is a good 2 km north of federal highway 7 to the edge of the forest. The area was designated as LSG type B, outskirts, open land and cultural landscape protection.

description

The LSG consists of parts of the northern or a partial area of the southern Diemel valley flanks which lie southwest and east of Niedermarsberg. In addition to parts of the Diemel valley flanks, areas of the Diemelaue are also included in the four eastern sub-areas. The LSG is used as grassland and arable land. In the LSG there were several stands of fruit trees that were worth preserving when they were identified.

Legal regulations

As in the other landscape protection areas in the city, the LSG prohibits building structures. Construction projects for horticulture, agriculture and forestry are exempt from the ban. The Lower Nature Conservation Authority can issue exceptional permits for buildings of all kinds. As in the other type B landscape protection areas in Meschede, the LSG prohibits initial afforestation and the creation of Christmas trees , ornamental branches and tree nurseries .

As in other type B landscape protection areas in Marsberg, there is a requirement to keep the LSG free of forest cover through agricultural use or suitable maintenance measures. In addition, in the Diemeltalflanken nature reserve around Niedermarsberg, there is a requirement to preserve fruit trees until they are natural.

Parts of the LSG in three sub-areas, around a quarter of the total area, are limited in time. As soon as construction or industrial areas are designated there, the landscape protection is lifted.

For the LSG there is a special requirement to preserve the fruit trees until they are natural. As an additional development measure, the eastern meadows of the easternmost sub-area north of the B 7 were to be supplemented with new plantings in larger gaps in the stand and thus secured in the long term. The eastern meadows there are, however, only protected up to a development with residential development and may therefore be built upon if a development plan is legally valid .
