Saint-Georges-des-Gardes is a village and a former French commune with 1,539 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belonged to the Arrondissement of Cholet and the canton of Chemillé-Melay .
With effect from December 15, 2015, the municipalities of Chanzeaux , La Chapelle-Rousselin , Chemillé-Melay , Cossé-d'Anjou , La Jumellière , Neuvy-en-Mauges , Sainte-Christine , Saint-Georges-des-Gardes , Saint- Lézin , La Salle-de-Vihiers , La Tourlandry and Valanjou from the former Communauté de communes de la Région de Chemillé have been amalgamated into a Commune nouvelle with the name Chemillé-en-Anjou . With the exception of Chemillé-Melay, the former municipalities have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality , since in this case the municipalities of Chemillé and Melay, which were already combined in 2013 to form the Commune nouvelle Chemillé-Melay , retain their status as Commune déléguée in the now municipality to have. The administrative headquarters are located in Chemillé.

In 1972 Saint-Georges-des-Gardes was founded from the previously independent municipalities of Saint-Georges-du-Puy-de-la-Garde and Les Gardes .
