Chemillé-en-Anjou is a French municipality with 21,392 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Angers and the canton of Chemillé-Melay . The inhabitants are called Chemillois .
The municipality was created with effect from December 15, 2015 as Commune nouvelle through the amalgamation of the formerly independent municipalities Chemillé-Melay , Chanzeaux , La Chapelle-Rousselin , Cossé-d'Anjou , La Jumellière , Neuvy-en-Mauges , Sainte-Christine , Saint-Georges-des-Gardes , Saint-Lézin , La Salle-de-Vihiers , La Tourlandry and Valanjou , which all belonged to the former communal association Communauté de communes de la Région de Chemillé . With the exception of Chemillé-Melay, the former municipalities have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality , since in this case the municipalities of Chemillé and Melay, which were already combined in 2013 to form the Commune nouvelle Chemillé-Melay , retain their status as Commune déléguée in the current municipality to have. Chemillé-en-Anjou is about 16 kilometers northeast of Cholet and belongs to the Anjou wine-growing region . The Hyrôme , a tributary of the Loire , flows through the municipality.
