Cléré-sur-Layon is a French municipality with 341 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Cholet and the Canton of Cholet-2 (until 2015: Canton Vihiers ). The inhabitants are called Cléréens .

Cléré-sur-Layon is about 34 kilometers east-northeast of Cholet in the Mauges countryside . The Layon flows through the municipality . Cléré-sur-Layon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lys-Haut-Layon in the north, Passavant-sur-Layon in the east and northeast, Cersay in the east and southeast, Genneton in the south and Saint Maurice Étusson with Saint-Maurice-la-Fougereuse in the West and southwest.
